Tuesday Exiles League
About the League
The Tuesday Exiles League started out as a Monday 6pm trio’s league in Portsmouth AMF, changing to doubles in 1982, but its early history has been lost in time.
The league went by many names during the 80’s and early 90’s, mainly due to sponsors before finally settling on Monday Trophies for the 1994/95 season. With the closure AMF Portsmouth in 2005 the league moved to GoBowling Fareham and a new time slot of 7pm. Following the closure of GoBowling Fareham a Monday slot was not available elsewhere, leaving the league to move to Tuesday’s at 6:30 at Bowlplex Gunwharf Quays. Subsequently the name of the league was changed to Tuesday Exiles.
We are a family friendly, handicap trophies league currently playing off a 90% of 220 handicap, with bowlers of all standards. We currently boast two ladies from the Hampshire Ladies Senior team and a Team England Senior player. Former players have represented Hampshire at junior, adult and senior level.
Nick Spivey took over as Secretary in 1983 and continues to this day. Nick and brother Tim are the longest standing league members, starting in 1980.
